I love that song!
Just curious....have you ever heard Linda Rondstat do Desperado? She was the first I heard that song sung.

My nephew and his wife perform all over the world.
Here is one of his originals and a video he produced.

WOW!!!!! WOW!!! WOW!!!!
I hope I'm not the only one who remembers Janis Joplin.... BUT...
Tell you one thing, I think if Janis Joplin and this girl had auditioned together singing "CRY BABY"...
Janis would NOT have gotten a job as a singer... this girl's looks, hair, voice.... all of it is perfect for this song...
She beats Janis hands down!!!!

Re: Share Your Favorite Songs
Sorry for the repeat post, but Brenda has been working on teaching me to post from YouTube, so here it is.
My nephew and his wife tour all over the world. They are currently making a movie. This is a video of a song he wrote and produced. It is supposed to look like an old movie. If you want to see more of his work, you can go to YouTube and put in Drew DeFour and this song "I Will Never Fall Out of Love With You", then keep following his YouTube posts.

ONE MORE! Drew plays dueling pianos...and taught Colleen (Kin) to do it, too. Here he is a few years back at a Howl at the Moon show. Go to 5:55 I ask him to play this all the time. So proud. He's the tall 6'7" one on the left. His version of Bumble Boogie, or Flight of the Bumblebee

That's such a beautiful Cohen composition, thank you for sharing.
I think you may also enjoy the rendition by Bocelli.... I found the choreography and backdrop nothing short of stunning when done to Cohen's music..

Re: Share Your Favorite Songs
Oh MY....I used to sing professionally, and did some vocal imitations. I used to do Angel Baby. One time we were practicing in a place that had the bar open for lunch all the way through closing at 2a.m. We used to rehearse in the afternoon there, and there were people still drinking from lunch time. One man paid $10 for us to do Angel Baby. Then again, and again, and again, for increasingly more pay. We did that song all afternoon and made a whole lot of money doing it. The original version of that song has a mistake musically in the instrumental part. I was surprised they left it in the recording.
Thanks for sharing this. She sure improved ... I've never heard anything by them other than Angel Baby. The whole recording sounds like an entirely different band and singer.

Re: Share Your Favorite Songs
Thank you so much for coming wayyyy down here and posting Mo.
I was on the verge of giving it up and going someplace else, I think most folks here like to post to the same thing up above over and over and over with not much change to anything!
What a charming story you told us, please don't stop!!
I love this era in music, so sad that it's gone probably never to return. I think you had to be fortunate enough to have lived it!
Today, sadly, with few exceptions, talent such as it is, is rap so that people who cannot sing can get rich by talking fast while holding their crotch.
Wonder how todays teens will reminisce when they're in their 60's, 70's and beyond? Oh well....
this one by Rosie and the originals is dedicated to YOU Mo!!
I hope it brings happiness to your heart and a tear to your eye!!

bleu....they re-recorded that Angel Baby, becaused they must have realized there was a mistake in the instrmental chorus. It's MUCH shorter there. The original 45 had the mistake. Loved hearing it again. Thanks!
Yes, that era sure beats this one. Sad how music kind of lost its meloday, eh?

Lately when under so much stress with Covid and more I have been listening to this song.
Re: Share Your Favorite Songs
Hi There Brenda! Sure am glad you posted down here,
NOBODY ever comes down here. I was about to give up..I just find not much of interest to me upstairs....
Mostly copy and paste stuff which I really don't care for..
Don't like hearing you're stressed.... try as best you can to control it....
Have a listen to this, turn the lights down low and watch Enya entertain you for a while.
I hope it {Dreams are More Precious} relaxes you...
Be sure to put in on full screen!!! Much better viewing that way.

Re: Share Your Favorite Songs
Thanks bleu was very nice but colors tend to bother me too lately. I seem to be light sensitive as well. I have my music on this gadget called Alexa and listen while I sit on my chair Bob bought me for xmas which massages and have my tea in the morning.
It makes a relaxing start to my day, also do meditation a lot more... you name it I do it lately.
"What doesn't kill you makes you stronger" right?
Lately a little less chronic pain would be nice but over the years I have gotten better at it and hit has really been great not half as bad as years ago. I have gotten a great handle on it and know my triggers but Covid has thrown a curve at me that I still am dealing with.. but I will get the best of this. I am thankful that I no longer work or have small children so I can function on my own schedule and Bob really understands pain and when I am with him watches over me to make sure I have eaten, rested and things like that so I am lucky.
How are you, your puppy and your lady friend.
Re: Share Your Favorite Songs
Yeah, about all of the Youtube music relies heavily on color and sound
Oh yes, we have Alexa as well, six of them throughout the house, 1 in the kitchen, 2 in the living room, 1 in Erika's sewing room, 1 out on the patio and 1 in the bedroom... No massaging chair though....LOL
Well, I don't know about if it doesn't kill you it makes you stronger... LOL....
I was in and out of hospitals for about two years when I came back from Vietnam....
didn't feel a damned bit stronger at the end of that time... just totally exhausted and damned tired LOL
Chronic pain is difficult to deal with... just gotta holler, "Don't mean nothin'.... Drive on" ... easier said than done though......
We have had both of our Covid19 shots now so, I suppose we are as immune as you can be at this point... at our age we will not lock ourselves in the bathroom and hide from much of anything...
yes, you are fortunate, many people have to deal with life situations all alone.... and at times that really sucks... I know first hand about that..yes, being retired helps, and kids belong with young people...
I do think maintaining your daily routines like eating properly, must be done, like it or not, failure to do so will usually multiply health problems
We are doing ok, my dog Lilly and her dog Bella are just like sisters.... they do just about everything together...
Last month I had Lilly's teeth cleaned and two growths removed while she was under sedation... one from her head and one from her back..
.
They shaved her quite a bit, we are waiting for her hair to grow back now.....
Well, come on down here as much as you can, nobody ever posts down here, don't know why, I think there's some fairly nice things around here... Oh well.....
Talk to you later little buddy...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Just for you Little buddy, no flashing lights and no color and very beautiful song....
Re: Share Your Favorite Songs
That many Alexa's really? Two puppies really, well when I go to Bob's, I have his chihuahua senior small dog, his big Doodle 1.5 puppy dog and I bring my Diva pedigreed Persian Semper Amare... you talk about fun times... I agree you have to keep some routines like eating, I have just started Keto and feel so much better on it. Bob has avoided some of the "white stuff" and his sugar is better controlled.
He also suffers a lot of pain from an injury in military, bad parachute jump. It is considered a 9plus on dominant arm.. 3 pieces of steel holds his shoulder together.
When the rain comes we make a good couple, he aches and migraines come.
Lilly is getting quite old now eh bleu?
Here is a song for you today.. Happy Easter I may not be on much this weekend.
